
Longridge offers a range of courses for those wishing to become qualified coaches.
The FSRT course is designed to provide paddlers and coaches with the key skills to ensure the safety of themselves and others and provide rescue skills which can be used to help themselves and/or others in difficulty. The course is a pre-requisite for those wishing to enter the BCU coaching scheme.
Pre-requisites: Be a minimum of 14 years of age. Those wishing to use the FSRT to commence training as a boat-based coach must hold the 2 Star Award or be of that ability.

This 4-day course run over 2 weekends will enable the participant to coach in sheltered water. Please note candidates MUST be 16 yrs old or over, have completed the FSRTand registered with the BCU Awarding Body PRIOR to attending the first day of the course. Registration is additional to membership and not the same thing.

This 4-day course run over 2 weekends will provide the training required to prepare you for assessment for the new UKCC-endorsed BCU Level 2 Coach Award.
Pre-requisites: be 16 years old or over and have successfully completed a new BCU Level 1 Coach Award, or old Level 2 training within the previous 3 years, and registration with the BCU. Candidates seeking certification as boat-based coaches will additionally require a BCU 3 Star in Kayak or Open Canoe plus either the alternative 2 Star or the new generic 2 Star.
