Sailing

Our prices are based on groups of up to 8 sailors for seventy-five minute fun sessions or 6 if you are working towards at RYA qualification.

We run sessions for absolute beginners and our highly experienced and qualified staff are able to offer courses leading to qualifications right up to instructor level.  We can create a course for you if you are visiting as a group or alternatively individuals can join one of our established courses, dates are under the course title.

Longridge taster sessions are always a good experience for the first time sailor. Some of our beginner boats are fitted with a raised boom to give more room to manoeuvre. Our taster sessions take place throughout the day and evening from Easter until the Autumn.

We also provide a Sailing boat and satety boat hire service to groups and individuals who have relevant qualifications and experience,please ask for our price list for self-run sailing sessions.

All of our courses are based on the RYA Sailing syllabus (Royal Yachting Association). These sessions are run by qualified and experienced instructors with a minimum ratio of 1 instructor to 6 students. RYA Start Sailing Stage 1 & 2 (Under 14)

Aimed at the novice sailor, you will learn how to steer a  boat and contol the sails.  The course will lead to an assessment, successful completion of which will result in either at Stage 1 or 2 award.

RYA Start Sailing Stage 3 (Under 14)

For under 14s with some sailing experience, covering all the basic techniques you need to sail in light winds without an instructor

RYA Level 1 Start Sailing (Adult)

We will get you out on the water in one of our range of boats e.g. Wayfarers, Toppers, Sport 14's or Pico.  Aimed at the complete beginner, this course will give a first taste of sailing. Learning how to steer a boat and control the sails couldn't be made easier over this two-day course.

You will be under the instruction of an RYA Qualified Dinghy Instructor and safety cover is provided at all times

RYA Basic Navigation & Safety Course

This course gives a basic introduction to navigation and safety for anyone new to boating: sailors, power boaters, sea anglers, divers and boat masters. Also useful for experienced dinghy and keelboat sailors and inshore racers. The course includes Charts and publications, safety, buoyage, tidal awareness, basic navigation and pilotage, rules of the road, electronic navigation, anchoring, weather forecasts, passage planning.
